YOUTH CONFERENCE WAS SOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!! wow. now the one stake youth conferences will never be the same.
so i had to wake up at 4:30 in the frickin' morning cause sister young was picking me up at 5:10. we went and got hannah, then we went to the church to meet the guys. after leaving the church at 5:45 we drove to bensen and had breakfast at McDonalds, which was amazing. after leaving McDee's, we started off on the long drive. before we got there, i did my makeup. i have a deep respect for anyone who can put mascara on in a moving vehicle. but when we got there it was like 8:00. we went and registered, got our shirts then walked around for a little while. when it started we went into the chapel. it started with a prayer and then there was a musical number. It was these two guys who sang four verses of A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief. THE WERE FRICKIN' HOT!!!!!!!!!!!! waaaahhhhh if only all guys could sing like that. wow...wow....that is all i can say. but after that there was a speaker who was hilarious!!
after that, we did a service project, then we had a class about dating and modesty. the teacher was soo funny. he told a story and it goes like this : one day i was watching tv in my basement. it was the national geographic channel. they were doing a special on monkeys. the first scene was the trees with a whole bunch on monkeys in them. after that it went to a monkey sleeping on the edge of a cliff. you know that people do funny things when they are sleeping." then he told a story of one time on his mission, he and his companion were asked to say the opening and closing prayers at testimony meeting. he had said the opening, so his companion was going to say the closing. about halfway through the testimonies, his companion fell asleep. after a while he got a feeling that he should wake up his companion and tell him that he had closing prayer. He thought that he should but it would be mean to wake up his companion. He got the feeling again, so he nudged his companion and said, "elder, you have closing prayer." his companion jumped up and walked up to the pulpit. The whole time, the other guy is saying to himself, please be bearing your testimony, please be bearing your testimony. but when he got up there, his companion folded his arms and said the closing prayer. as he was walking away, he was perplexed as no one was leaving. the bishopric kept looking at their watches and muttering, what is he doing, it's not time yet. when the elder sat back down, the bishop stood up and said :thatnk you elder for that wonderful closing prayer, but we will continue with our meeting until 5 after the hour and then you can come up and say the closing prayer." The guy's companion was furious. but then he went back to his story. "Out of the trees came an evil monkey. he came up to his sleeping friend and was just looking at him...then he shoved him off the cliff!!! I was really worried for the monkey. i was almost to tears for him. how could his friend shove him off!" and then he related that to dating.
After that class, we had lunch. after lunch i was supposed to go to another service project but i went and talked to Kyra Brown (her dorm at EAC was like 50 feet from where we were having youth conference.) i was at the service project for the last 5 minutes. after that we had another class, this one on friends and self esteem. after that was a media and music class. this man told a story of how one time while on his mission in ecuador, he went to a ladies house. in the corner of the room, there were several large guinea pigs. he was looking at them and the lady asked if he wanted to hold one. he said yes because he had a guinea pig back home. well the lady took one of the guinea pigs, smashed it's head on the wall and cooked it. she then handed it back to him on a stick. he said all he really wanted to do was to pet it.
after that we had testimony meeting then dinner. after dinner was the dance, which was frickin' AWESOME!!!!! yeah, i had a fun time. i danced alot, and not just slow dances either. the last song i danced was a slow dance and i was dancing with colter. he started singing to me, but he didn't know the words, so it went something like "Courtney, i love you. i want you to love me, but i know that's not how it works." it was hilarious.
after leaving the dance, on the way home we stopped at DQ. then we got back in the car and i went to sleep.
I had soooooooo much fun. man, that would have been fun if you guys (miranda and jeremy) had been here. oh well maybe next time.
